Still Water
In a world where we're surrounded by noise and hubbub, it’s easy to forget to stop, take time out and breathe.
Having been described as “a monument of calm,” Nic Fiddian-Green's 2011 sculpture "Still Water" is an excellent example of artwork in the heart of the city, and it actually offers a place where one can feel peace and tranquillity, despite being surrounded by traffic.
This is actually the second time a horse's head has featured prominently at Marble Arch. "Horse at Water", also by Fiddian-Green, saw another, albeit sightly smaller head reaching out for water, until it was moved to Daylesford, Gloucestershire, the home of Sir Anthony and Lady Carole Bamford, who had commissioned it.
