The First Prototype of the K2 Telephone Box
We all have to start somewhere, and for Sir Giles Gilbert Scott it was just behind the door at Burlington House where he unveiled his (wooden) prototype for the now iconic red K2 telephone box.

You would have thought that such an artefact would have been locked away, closed off and/or sent to a museum, but no. You can still get right up close and personal to this absolute staple of British design, so you can check out every inch of this icon which was just the beginning of a telecommunicative revolution.
While you're there, why not check out the Royal Academy of the Arts. It's full of amazing artwork and dramatic designs with some excellent exhibitions run by artists themselves. This year, it even celebrates it's 250th anniversary!
